About Me

I am currently living and working in Los Angeles California, participating in a year of service with the Episcopal Service Corp. You can check them out here.
After listening to what I felt God was calling me to and taking a big leap of faith, I am out here in LA. Daily, I am working towards social justice and peace; working with people who are marginalized, disadvantaged, and underserved and undervalued. I am thankful everyday for the incredible amount of privilege I have to take a year to serve others, while learning about myself, and growing spiritually as well as professionally.

I earned my BA in Social Work from Wright State University, and am in the process of becoming a licensed social worker. Previously, I have worked in substance abuse counseling, senior care, and with youth. With each day I learn more about what it means to serve others, and am filled with a zest for working with populations and social issues that our society would like to pretend don't exist.

When I chose to participate in this year of service, I committed all of my time and energy. Sometimes that can be very tiring, especially when it feels like some of your time (or days) isn't really your own. However, learning to truly live in community is creating positive changes in my life! I have four amazing young women that I live with, and 10 other members of my service program that I can rely on. I am truly blessed!

I spend my days working full time for am amazing non-profit organization that specializes in helping individuals with extreme barriers to employment find work, through a series of classes and workshops; individual counseling; resume and interview preparation; and many other resources. Outside of working, I enjoy cooking, reading, music, being active, and trying new things! :)
